Presentation Title:
AEM challenges: The challenges of maintaining agility and flexibility across the organization while pursuing growth
Agnico Eagle (AEM) is a senior Canadian gold mining company that has produced precious metals since 1957. AEM’s eight mines are in Canada, Finland and Mexico, with exploration and development activities in these countries as well as in the United States and Sweden. AEM is focused on adding incremental production at its current mines through 2018 while advancing the Amaruq and Meliadine projects in Nunavut, which are expected to add significant production starting in 2019-2020. It is an enormous challenge to maintain a lean organization, develop a workforce, maintain results, and build new opportunities at low cost and on schedule either at an existing operation or a new deposit. To strengthen the business and realize the value of AEM’s assets, future projects will implement new technologies, fully capture synergies and strengthen optimization efforts. To deliver on this plan, it is crucial to focus on our experience to maintain the operational performance that will ensure the value of our assets, identifying and developing new technologies and tools that will support growth and maintaining a high level of technical skills and experience.
This presentation will introduce participants to processes that have been implemented at AEM to support the growth of high-quality gold mining assets as well as identify the importance of maintaining flexibility in the business while mitigating the risk.
